Need a perfect outfit for your friend’s 21st? How about a work office party, or for Christmas Day? Don’t rush to the shops and purchase an overly priced dress that you’ll only wear for one weekend; instead, hire something that suits your style on Lána. Lána Global is the latest brainchild of sustainable fashion icon, Edda Harmer. The platform is a peer-to-peer fashion sharing outlet and here to help save the planet! Their mantra is to create a platform to share accessible fashion for all styles and launch a discussion on environmental consciousness in the industry.
On Wednesday November 29, Lána held their fashion launch party at Brisbane’s She Bangs Coffee where, for a night, the café converted its rustic and graffiti-inspired space into a bar/music venue. Three performances were set to carry the party into the night. Opening with the smooth, jazz inspired voice of Sam Adebajo, then the beautiful Ayla to follow, and lastly, Arpier performed some classic indie vibes. Music wasn’t the only showcase of the night; Lána was also selling some beautiful jewellery, espresso martinis and a professional photo op!
To begin the official proceedings of the night, Edda opened with a statement focusing on the environmental consciousness of the Lána brand. She hopes Lána will encourage fellow fashionistas to be soldiers in the war against waste and actively participate in reducing waste in the industry - all while sharing and adoring in their mutual love for all things fashion.
Edda Harmer is also the co-founder of Undress Runways, a platform to celebrate the work of sustainable designers from around the world. Lána is Edda Harmer’s latest project and at the young age of 28, she certainly inspires me to remember that age is no limit when it comes to implementing your vision. Edda Harmer has built a team for Lána with the same desire to spread her vision for a sustainable fashion industry. At present, Lána is a website community where users rent and hire items of clothing. The logistics of the venture are simple and easy to use; scroll through a myriad of styles and fashion, select the duration of the hire, and pay through the website!
Their launch party was a true celebration of their vision and the strong community they have built. Lána is about creating a community of people to actively participate in being accountable to the environment. By sharing beautiful style and trendy fashions, they desire to reduce the waste produced by the fashion industry and educate and inspire participants in the industry to think about how we can do our bit to create a brighter future for the planet and fashion.
