Winter is the season that you can find yourself reaching for your blanket rather than a second date. If you're looking for some motivation to get out of bed and into the arms of your someone special, we've found 12 date ideas that are perfect for a Brisbane winter. Whether it's snuggling beneath a blanket under the starry sky or sipping on a warm chocolate after an evening on the rink, Brisbane sure has an impressive collection of date spots. The only thing you'll have to decide is what you'll be wearing!

Ice Skating, King George Square

In the hub of Brisbane City, experience a real European Winter with an outdoor ice skating rink popping up next to the Brisbane City Hall from June 16 – July 9. Lace up your skates and hit the ice, or grab a tube and fly down the Toboggan Terror before warming up your hands with a toasty hot chocolate.

Seadeck Brisbane Cruise, South Bank
Escape the hustle and bustle of urban life and abandon your worries for a day or evening, with a luxurious cruise around the Brisbane River on the floating oasis, Seadeck. Docking at South Bank for 10 weeks, Seadeck Brisbane will give you the chance to soak up the sun whilst enjoying world-class views, food and entertainment.

Drive in Theatre, Yatala
In the 1970s drive-in theatres were the go-to date night spots. It’s more than just the movies; it’s about starry nights, kickin’ back and catching some flix in the open air. Whether you’d prefer to sit in the comfort of your own car or pull up couple of chairs in front, it’s the perfect opportunity to snuggle in under a blanket and meet the Danny to your Sandy.

undefinedAlfred & Constance, Fortitude Valley
If you’re looking for a cosy place to drop in for dessert, then make sure you take a seat in front of the striking fireplace at A&C. With desserts by Chester Street, you can choose from a selection of winter warming treats like their sticky date pudding with vanilla bean ice cream that we guarantee, taste as good as they look.

Club Sosay Board Games Café & Bar, Paddington
Put away those mobile phones and get into some good old-fashioned fun. There’s no better way to test the strength of a blossoming (or already bloomed) relationships, then over a game of Monopoly or Hungry Hungry Hippos. Pair that with a couple of cocktails and tasty treats, and you’ll be in for a night of romantic nostalgia.

Sunday by the River, Newstead
Roll out your picnic rug along the river and lay back for a relaxing afternoon of free live music and lawn bowls. This is a licensed area, so you’ll be able to enjoy the tunes every Sunday from 2- 5pm with your favourite bottle in hand.

Cork & Chroma, South Brisbane
Release your inner Picasso and take on the basic techniques of painting to create your own artistic masterpiece. Don’t forget to bring along your favourite bottle of wine to pair with the selection of cheeses, olives and brownies on offer.

Ghost Tour, Various Locations
Cosy up to your date on a ghost tour through the Boggo Road Gaol, Toowong Cemetery or South Brisbane Cemetery. You’ll feel chills up your spine that won’t be just from the cold air.

Wine Tasting, Sirromet
For something totally impressive, jump in the car and take a scenic drive to Sirromet Winery. Go behind the scenes on a tour of the picturesque Mount Cotton vineyard before enjoying a private wine tasting of 8 Sirromet wines. Conclude this date with lunch at Restaurant Lurleen’s and you’ll both be saying ‘sip, sip, hooray’.

Eat Street Markets, Hamilton
Take a twilight walk through the bustle and buzz of the Eat Street Markets and indulge in tasty treats, enchanting sights and sounds of live performances. Open on Fridays and Saturdays, as well as Sundays through Winter, you’ll be blown away by the all the foodie choices on offer.

Whale Watching, Moreton Bay
With the whale watching season well underway, Winter is the perfect time to hit the ocean and encounter these sea creatures. Each year as the humpback migrates to and from Antartica, you’ll be able to watch as they feed, mate and play in the clear blue sea of Moreton Bay. It’s enough to you make fall in love (with the whales that is).

Knockoff, Brisbane Powerhouse
Everyone knows that the way to your partners heart is through their stomach… with a good laugh and cold beer at the Brisbane Powerhouse. A variety of local and Australia comedians will be bringing you their best one-liners, cheap jokes and hilarious stories every Friday from 6pm.
