It’s all about having a good time; and who wouldn’t have a good time biting into some of Australia’s finest BBQ treats and washing it down with some of the best craft beers in the country (or even the world).
That’s right, the BBQ and Beer Roadshow – launched in February of this year at Doomben – has moved to the Bayside, taking place this Saturday May 5th at the Redland Showgrounds in Cleveland. There really is something for everyone here, from craft beer and food vendors to live music and jumping castles (and that includes a castle for the adults).
The newly born festival is sure to become something of a tradition in Brisbane, bringing together 100s of different flavours and 20+ brews to sample – and even indulge in for the more dedicated beer snobs. Don’t let the alcohol fool you though, this is one fit for the whole family.
With a dedicated fun zone for the young (and some of the old) ones to run amok and dozens of different food stalls, accompanied by live music and even a BBQ competition between the pro’s, there’s enough to keep everyone occupied long into the night.
While it might be all well and good to talk about it before it even happens, I can tell you one thing more: the food is worth the ticket price. Having attended the pre-event on Thursday night at Cleveland’s The Bench bar, I can already tell pallets are going to be wowed by the foods on offer at this event.
With catering from Twelve Boar, who you’ll be lucky enough to be able to sample on the day, the food at this event was another experience entirely for your casual BBQ fan. Between the chicken wings, pulled pork and beef brisket, it was difficult to leave anything on the plate – even though we’re only scratching the surface.
Surely the greatest problem on the day will be holding back from filling up too early. Luckily, if you’re in need of a break from the irresistible food on offer, you’ll certainly be able to find something else to eat up time. Between competition and catering, the talented cooks at the festival will even be passing down their knowledge, with chats from teams such as Pits ‘n’ Giggles, Flamin’ Mongrels and Serial Grillers (to name a few) before their competition turn ins.
For the braver BBQ nuts, there’s even a hot wing eating competition – and that does mean hot. Complete with a live stream to Facebook on the day, this is one to test the most daring of foodies – giving you spice fanatics a chance to finally put those taste buds to the test.
And of course, if the relentless barbequing just isn’t you’re thing, there’s still the beer! With nearly 20 different brewers each offing a fine selection of various craft beers, there will be more than enough to sample (as long as you have your designated driver sorted). With a daylong rotation of live music acts to top it off, there’s a lot to love from the newly found festival.
What more is there to say? Come for the beautifully cooked BBQ good and delicious craft beer and stay for the great atmosphere and the lovely people you’ll meet along the way. Who knows, maybe the BBQ and Beer Roadshow will come by your town next year.
Tickets are only $21.95 for adults and free for children under 12, so don’t miss out!
