Summer is slowly coming to an end, which means shorter days and longer nights. But who says the fun has to stop when the sun goes down? Brisbane is a bustling place to be and if you’re over your standard ‘Netflix and Chill’, we have come up with our top picks to spice up your nights.

Tangalooma Island Resort, Moreton Island
Just 75 minutes from Brisbane, this island paradise will keep you busy from morning to evening. When the sun starts to go down, the fun is only just beginning at Tangalooma Island Resort. Explore the subtropical reef life as you never have before on a Transparent Night Kayak Tour. Take off around the Tangalooma Wrecks on board your illuminated translucent kayak and see what life under the sea looks like as the spectacular underwater world below lights up. Encounter schools of fish, turtles, stingrays and so much more as your guide takes you around the fifteen sunken shipwrecks.

But your night doesn’t have to stop there. Back at the resort jetty, a pod of wild dolphins have arrived to feed. The pod has been visiting guests at Tangalooma for decades and recently welcomed its newest calf, Comet, who has fast become very popular with the adoring crowds. Not only do you get up close and personal with these friendly creatures but you also get the chance to hand feed them too! This one is a bucket list must do!

Glow Worm Caves, Mount Tambourine
There are few places in Brisbane you can escape to and feel fully immersed in nature. The Glow Worm Caves at Mount Tambourine, however, are definitely one of them. These purpose-built caves are located in a winery and play an important role in the conservation of the beautiful little creatures. It also allows you to see them unlike anywhere else in the world. The guided tours take you on a journey through the caves letting you get up close with thousands of magical glowworms, as well as learn about their lifecycle and unique behaviours. Who said learning isn’t fun? Light up your night with this fun and unique Brisbane experience.

Night Time hike, Mt Coot-tha
We live in a beautiful state, but there is no doubt Queensland can get very hot. Escape the heat and enjoy a hike at night. Mt Coot-tha, one of Brisbane’s most popular hiking destinations is the perfect spot for an enjoyable hiking experience unlike any other! With panoramic views over Brisbane which span all the way to Moreton Island, the hike is worth the trip. If hiking isn’t quite your thing, why not grab some pizza and drive to the top to enjoy dinner with a view.

Abseil, Kangaroo Point
This one is for the adventure seekers. Brisbane is blessed with an array of outdoor activities just a hop, skip and jump from the city centre. Located on the other side of the river, abseiling at Kangaroo Point is the perfect way to end your busy workday or start your weekend the right way. The rocks light up at night and has multiple abseiling points along the stretch. If you’re new to the abseiling life, Riverlife offers abseiling sessions guided by qualified and experienced instructors. So hang high and enjoy the beautiful views of Brisbane city in all its glory!
